The Women Economic Forum (WEF) is a regional meeting focused on improving the role of women in the economy. Its aim is to pursue initiatives for female economic progress. For the first time, this important forum will be held in Latin America in the city of Cartagena de Indias on August 1-3. It is an honor to be part of the WEF where Director Andrés Santamaría and two social ventures supported by RECON will receive special recognition for their work.

Andras Santamaría is joined by Tierra Grata and Camila Cooper in recognition for their important work.

Tierra Grata seeks to provide sanitation, water, and energy services to vulnerable communities on the Caribbean Coast of Columbia. Camila Cooper, the founder of Cunas con Amor, brings cardboard cots to single mothers and families who do not have the financial resources to give a bed to their babies.

Andrés Santamaría, director of RECON, will receive the global award of the Women Economic Forum for being a leader that contributes to the construction of a better world. Andrés was chosen in the men’s category as one of five to receive this award.

Tierra Grata will receive recognition for being an “Iconic company that creates a better world for all.”

For her part, Camila will receive recognition as an “Iconic women who creates a better world for all. “She will be one of 35 leaders to receive the recognition from among 266 nominees. “To have opened that email and to know that we are going to receive this recognition is a motivating force to continue dreaming and being social entrepreneurs. Serving the community is worth it!” Camila says.

Tierra Grata describes this recognition as “Rewarding because the daily work that we have been doing for more than three years is visible in some way. Above all, this award encourages and challenges us to continue to grow and continue to improve in order to reach the other territories which still lack basic services.”

Both Camila and Tierra Grata are confident that this recognition will open many doors for them to partner with other projects and continue to impact a greater number of people in each of their communities.

From RECON, we are proud of these social entrepreneurs who daily transform realities to build a different future and will be recognized for their work in this important forum. The award gala will be held on August 2, at 6:30 P.M. at El Gran Salón Bolívar in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
